The Sound Of Arrows’ long awaited debut album is out today – yes, today; we can sense your excitement too. Voyage is an 11-track release, and it’s quite simply amazing (so basically as you expected really). The record includes former singles Magic and our personal favourite, the stunning Nova.
The Sound Of Arrows confirmed earlier this year of plans to release their as-then untitled debut album. The release of singles Nova in April and Magic in August further excited Sound Of Arrows fans, giving them a healthy taster as what to expect from the proceeding studio album.
We recently managed to catch a chat with one half of The Sound Of Arrows, Stefan. We spoke about the debut album Voyage, how Sound Of Arrows came to be and future plans including some live UK show details. The interview is available for your reading pleasure here.
‘VOYAGE’ – TRACKLISTING:
1. ‘Into The Clouds’
2. ‘Wonders’
3. ‘My Shadow’
4. ‘Magic’
5. ‘Ruins of Rome’
6. ‘Longest Ever Dream’
7. ‘Hurting All The Way’
8. ‘Conquest’
9. ‘Nova’
10. ‘There Is Still Hope’
11. ‘Lost City’
As expected, the album by enlarge is absolutely brilliant. From the opening track Into The Clouds right the way through to its closing outro in Lost City, Voyage takes a rather more unusual approach to your perhaps more traditional pop album – Stefan explains the album is ‘more like a pop soundtrack to an imaginary film’.
It’s easy to see why both Magic and Nova were chosen as singles from the release – both offer a sense of diversity; constantly changing vision yet still so musically superb.
The album’s experimental electronic pop sound and style commands respect right from the off-set; still maintaining the story-like timeline and structure throughout.
Aside from the two aforementioned singles, the album contains further gems that make Voyage such a compelling release as we enter the winter months. Living up to its title, the dreamy Longest Ever Dream is a tantalising vision of a distant reality; only further aided by the track’s beautiful lyrics and its superb technicalities.
Providing a fitting end to such a well-crafted and produced release, Lost City takes the form of an outro – layered over end credits as the imaginary film draws to a close.
