Sixteen year old, Lauren Aquilina is a songstress armed with melancholic piano-driven melodies. Her debut single, a cover of the Brenda Russell penned track ‘Get Here’ made famous by Oleta Adams, is delivered with an overwhelming heartfelt honesty.
The Bristol-born rising star, who has established herself a loyal online following, sailing past 600,000 YouTube views in less than 6 months is donating all profits raised from sales of the single to charity the meningitis trust.
Lauren hopes to be able to raise both money and awareness of the cause using music as the tool which she hopes can bridges boundaries in gender, glass, age and ethnic origin and hopefully unite people in joining together during the festive period.
The piano-led ballad which is entwined with a stunning sparkly backing fuses a delicate track married with a vocal honesty, an honesty usually exhibited by artists twice her age.
‘Get Here’ will be available from iTunes from 4/12/2011 and also via download via text message.
